Owari Musashino Duo
Starting at: $599.99
The Owari Musashino Duo matched pair offers both a Owari Style Iaito, and a 100% matching Shinken with 10stage polish! This pair allows you to have a perfectly matched pair of swords, one blunt for practice, and the other fully sharpened Shinken!
This is our entry level sword. The lowest cost in our "Budget" line of Iaito. This sword boasts one of the best combination of features in the sub $500 price range, which is no small accomplishment considering this sword's price. It is the perfect balance of low cost, and optimal performance. It is designed for day to day use in practice. Perfect for beginners of Iaido.
This sword features standard subdued fittings, designed after the very popular Owari Musashino tsuba which is based on an antique design by the well known Owari tsuba style. This design is a Musashino motif, based on the grasses of the Musashi plains. The original period of this design is from the early Muromachi period, but the style was carried on into the Meiji period as well. This design was later adapted by various tsuba smiths from Kyoto. Definately one of the best swords you are going to find in this price range.
Featuring our high carbon steel blade, designed for optimal balance, and handling, this sword offers a more traditional alternative to the many zinc aluminum alloy blades available. Our steel blades have been designed from the ground up, to offer perfect balance for regular Iaido use, reducing the risk of repetitive motion injury from the more common heavy (or poorly balanced) low cost steel swords available.
The fittings are made from low cost Cast Alloy rather than Iron, which places the balance slightly farther towards the tip than our higher end swords (because of the lighter fittings). The cast alloy fittings are more than durable enough for regular use, but they are not quite as strong as 100% iron fittings. (nor are they "traditional" since Iron or Brass was the material of choice in period Japanese construction).
